A Community Ukulele Group, led by John Kavanagh, will be meeting in the Kentville Town hall building on Main Street, Wednesdays at 7:30, starting September 17. Registration will be the first night.

John has been an expert ukulele player and musician since the mid 70s, when he first learned in the Halifax school system. He has performed in Canada and the U.S. and given workshops at the international Ukulele Ceilidh in Nova Scotia, and at the University of Maine.
He released a solo uke CD, Parlour Music, in 2006.
“What kind of group it will be depends partly on who’s in it and what they want, but my thoughts are it’s about getting together, having fun playing music, and learning about music and the ukulele. We’ll try to balance being a ukulele class and a ukulele playing group, but I want to welcome beginners so it will start with more instruction. If there are enough people we’ll have two groups, one for beginners and another for people who have already played uke or guitar.” The cost will be $75 for 12 weeks. Questions? call 678-3225 or email parlourukulele@gmail.com .
